Description

1 item (originally enclosed in Mr Alcock's confidential despatch of 16 August 1861) extracted from FO 46/13. Japan. Map of Honshu, Kyushu and Shikoku, showing the territories and capital cities of each of the 143 daimyo (feudal rulers). Reference table and notes, in Japanese. Scale: 1 inch to about 13 miles (calculated). Compass roses. MS additions transliterating place names into the Roman alphabet.
