Shepstone Secty for Native Affairs and Ambassador Extraordinary to the Zulu Nation and his Natal Volunteer Escort from Natal to Zululand July, Augst & Septr 1873, observed and drawn by T. Baines F.R.G.S. (Artist & Geographer Durban Volunteer Artillery). Assisted by information from Major Durnford R.E., Bishop Schreuder of the Norwegian Mission, Mr. Taylor of Tongaat and Sketches of Surveys kindly lent by Mr. Robarts of Verulam and Dr P C Sutherland, Surveyor General of Natal': map (of territory now in KwaZulu/Natal province, South Africa). Extensive reference notes concerning the progress of the party, including the distances covered and calculations of its positions; comments on earlier surveys. Scale: 3 inches to about 10 miles.
