Western Europe: battle reports for Army Group B for Apr 2, counter-attack by 3rd Panzer Grenadier Division, Army Group B battle reports for Apr 1, fuel and ammunition shortages, additional supplies requested by air, Allies advancing in Kassel and Paderborn areas, Allied forces completely mobile; 6th SS Mountain Division fighting its way out south of Friedberg overnight Mar 31/Apr 1; C-in-C Army Group B attempting to carry out Hitler's order to attack west from Kassel but considers available forces completely insufficient and reinforcements essential, Apr 1/2; C-in-C Army Group B informs C-in-C West that critical situation necessitates call-up for battle operations of 16 year-olds from Reich labour service units, Apr 1; 53rd Army Corps to attack Allied north-south supply line in area west of Kassel, Apr 2; Hitler orders total destruction of all transport equipment and installations before territory surrended, rendering all captured systems useless to Allies, Apr 2; immediate transport of 2,580 tons of new-type gas ammunition from army ammunition depot at Lubeck, east of Osnabruck, to depots east of Munich, all other gas ammunition supplies to remain at Lubeck, Mar 30
