Description

Western Europe: Blaskowitz reporting 86th Corps cut off from rear communications following Allied capture of Telgte and fighting way towards Iburg to make contact with other elements of Parachute Army; Student reporting start-line for attack towards Haltern moved to Twente Canal-Rheine because of Allied attack, Allied armour pushing towards Nordhorn and Rheine intending to push on to Hamburg with 12 infantry divisions and threatening to surround 2nd Parachute Corps, first German objective to destroy Allies in Oldenzaal area by thrusts by 88th Army Corps and 2nd Parachute Corps; 63rd Corps subordinated to 67th Corps von Luettwitz, with task of advancing towards area of Orensteinfurt -Luedinghausen; Kesselring's orders for Army Group G to hold Jagst line at all costs, further surrender of ground not to be tolerated, Apr 1; proclamation from Kesselring to all troops on Western front, Apr 1; Hitler's instructions for destruction of industrial plant and installations, Mar 30; gas ammunition in ammunition depots Wildflecken and Neuhof not removed to be left undestroyed and without special marking
