Western Europe: Kesselring informed by Student of plans for counter attack against Allied flank, attack on Haltern deferred for lack of fuel and ammunition; Kesselring's orders to Model for implementation of Group Bayerlein's attack, proposals for formation of Independent Command on east flank of Army Group and subordination of 63rd Corps and 47th Panzer Corps for employment on Lippe and Ruhr to protect northern flank of Army Group; attack west-south-west of Kassel to cut Allied corridor making little progress, Apr 1; all bridges over Dortmund-Ems Canal at Ibbenbueren destroyed in air raid; all military supplies to be evacuated unless needed for fighting efficiency, Mar 30; information on air fields in Army Group B pocket suitable for night landing requested by AOC 15th Air Division.

Southern Europe: second degree of alarm ordered in whole area of command of CinC South West in anticipation of possible large scale Allied operations in Italian theatre, Apr 2.

German Embassy northern Italy: contacts between Mussolini, his daughter, Apostolic Nuncio in Switzerland and the Pope, possible intersession by Pope for compromise peace, Mar 22.

French ambassador Ankara: Turkish views on San Francisco Conference proposals, Mar 28.

Dutch ambassador Chungking: US policy in Far East, attitude to UK participation, Mar 28.

Siamese ambassador Osaka: air raid on Tokyo Mar 28.
