Description

Naval Headlines: Japanese report Allied aircraft over Tateyama; expectation of imminent Allied landing on Iwojima.

South-eastern Europe: Mostar lost with considerable losses in men and material, German forces retreating to blocking position west of Loznica; 34th Army Corps reporting 22nd Infantry Division under strong attack at Sepak; 115th Army Corps concluded FRUEHLINGSSTURM.

Germany: serious damage to industry and traffic system in Allied air raid in Magdeberg area and on Chemnitz, Gotha, Gera, Schmalkalden, Arnstadt and Poeszneck; political directive from SS Main Office to Party Political Commissars in various VolksGrenadier Divisions and 12th SS Corps on conference of Big Three, reactions to atrocity propaganda and examples of political leadership shown at Stalingrad in Red Army.

Japanese naval attaché, Berlin: interview with Admiral Doenitz and Rear Admiral Wagner, war situation reviewed, German intentions for Spring, Feb 17.
