Description

Western Europe: Army Group B reporting continued Allied concentrations in Aachen area, large scale attack expected to occupy Ruhr; areas behind front reported overcrowded, all troops to be kept under discipline.

Hungary: German Corps surrounded in Budapest expects elimination since air supply stopped, casualties exceedingly high.

Shortage of anti-aircraft ammunition in Vienna following large scale air raid on Feb 6, stocks sufficient for three or four further attacks.

Naval Headlines: Allied convoy JW 64 sighted by GAF reconnaissance, Rasmus Group of U-boats ordered into patrol positions; large-scale German commando operation against Granville attempted Feb 6; fuel and victualling economies enjoined on all fortresses by CinC Naval Chief Command West, Feb 7; no further members of German Navy to be given over to German Army but to be formed into Naval Units trained and led by Naval officers, Feb 3; branches of Naval War Staff to resume work near Wilhelmshaven, Feb 7; Japanese convoy HI 93 attacked by Allied submarine off Camranh; first submarine assigned to evacuation of personnel from Luzon delayed, due to arrive Feb 9; Japanese intelligence warning of possible US Air Force strike in India.
