Western Europe: battle reports from 1st SS Panzer Corps and 81st Corps, Allied penetrations on Aug 20 south of Paris; Germans overwhelmed by massive Allied air superiority and army disgusted at lack of GAF support, Aug 21; German submarine aground off Toulon to be blown up; German frontier guards on Swiss border to be reinforced to prevent German troops from defecting to Switzerland; GAF aircraft strategic fuel stocks being withdrawn to Spain from airfield in south-western France; GAF plans concentrated attack on Mantes and roads to south, overnight Aug 21/22; remnants of 7th Army to cross Seine south of Rouen, Aug 21; 2nd Panzer Division to break through to River Vie, Aug 21; 81st Corps experiencing chaotic conditions at ferrying points; 116th Panzer Division having withdrawn from recent Normandy battle area to move to west of Evreux and come under control of 81st Corps, Aug 21; 5th Panzer Army report for Aug 21, forces to move overnight Aug 21/22 from western to eastern part of Normandy; encircled elements of 116th Panzer Division break through Allied lines; troops from Russian infantry battalion of 25th Corps, Brittany, desert Aug 21 after killing German personnel; Germans to attempt provision of supplies by air for Channel Islands but with little chance of success, Aug 22; no need for hurried German naval evacuation from Bordeaux.
