Description

Westerm Europe: 10th SS Panzer Division expecting British attack on Normandy front, July 15; Panzer Lehr Division withdrawing in face of Allied attacks in Carentan area, July 14; 84th Army Corps suffering heavy casualties as Allies thrust forward in Carentan area, July 14; 17th SS Panzer Grenadier Division pushed back, losing Tribehou and Gournay, July 13; front line of 84th Corps as at July 14; Germans ban probably all rail traffic in France except for military and food trains in view of coal shortage and sabotage, July 13; Germans to stop mass arrests and deportation of non-terrorists in France as there were no facilities to transport them away and there was a danger of inflaming rest of French population to join terrorist forces, July 12; results of Allied massed air raid on Munich, July 12.

Southern Europe: GAF Italy summary for July 13, Germans expecting Allied landings at a number of locations in Mediterranean area but as yet had no idea of precise Allied intentions; all 3 German Corps west of Apennines withdrew according to plan overnight July 13/14; 5th Mountain Division expecting Allied attack east of Apennines, July 14; men from anti-aircraft artillery units of 2nd Air Fleet to transfer to Germany, probably to join German Army or Waffen SS, July 12, indicating that the order for transfer of GAF personnel to the army was not just limited to the GAF in Germany; GAF airfield in Budapest area requests transfer of GAF fuel reserves from Romania due to large numbers of aircraft passing through in transit, July 11.
