Western Europe: combat report from Normandy Front for July 10, street fighting in Maltot, 9th SS Panzer Division, operating in area of Allied bridgehead over the Odon, relieved by 277th Infantry Division.
Southern Europe: combat reports from main Italian Front for July 10, counter-attack by 44th Division south-east of Arezzo repulsed with heavy German losses, Lugnano strongly occupied by Allied forces.
Naval Headlines for July 8: PM highlights 3 items for attention of First Sea Lord and asks him to report back on action taken; these items were as follows: report by U-boat commander that Allied groups searching for German submarines off beachhead were quite inexperienced and not very persevering; U-boat commanders ordered to board sinking Allied warships to try and recover cypher information which was vital to the conduct of the naval war; German U-boats claim successes for improved CURLY torpedo; First Sea Lord's reply to PM not included, returned to DNI under 7063.
