Italy: part situation report from CinC South West on Mar 23 refers to hopelessness of situation and heavy losses presumed to be Cassino; activities in area of 14th Army, 92nd Infantry Division destroyed guerrilla hideout shooting ten partisans and capturing four near Bottigli; 1st Parachute Corps quiet; 76th Panzer Corps, 362nd Infantry Division repulsed three Allied patrols; possible movement of 278th Infantry Division; Allied shipping activity in Mediterranean; Allied air raids on railways and harbour installations.
