Description

Southern Europe: six Allied warships bombard Sicilian coast on July 18; continued fighting south of Catania, July 17; Axis front line, July 17; Kesselring orders immediate return of all Italian motor transport requisitioned by Germans, July 17; Hermann Goering Division reports 900 of surrounded Axis parachutists had returned by July 17; GAF to concentrate attacks on Allied tank and motor transport concentrations on July 18; GAF warned not to attack units identified beyond all doubt as hospital ships, July 17.
