North Africa: orders to Panzer Army Rommel for defence of Mareth Zone, Feb 8; proposals for division of effort for air support of 21st Panzer Division and 5th Panzer Army; GAF situation report for Feb 8: Allied forces advanced from El Assa area against 15th Panzer Division east of Taguelmit; aircraft available for operations, Feb 8; 2nd Air Fleet report Allied forces withdrawing from Gafsa, warn could be to set traps; GAF report Axis spearhead moving towards Gafsa; German Naval Command Rome reports numbers of serviceable tanks available to 5th Panzer Army; Feb 8 situation summary for Feb 8; Axis Reconnaissance units in Morra too weak to hold out against Allied attack, seeking reinforcement from 15th Panzer Division Feb 7; report of Allied air raid on Elmas airfield, Feb 7, airfield unserviceable; GAF support for offensive by 5th Panzer Army in area west and southwest of Kairouan, planned for Feb 10; Kesselring orders for vigorous attacks on Tripoli and Zuara harbours to prevent unloading and so delay attack by Allied 8th Army, Feb 6; explicit orders requested for taking of Gafsa, Feb 6.
