North Africa: Panzer Army report withdrawal went according to plan, 21st Panzer Division to reach Tripoli evening Jan 16, with advanced elements at Medenine; GAF report for Jan 17, Allied thrust stronger than expected, Panzer Army intentions-to withdraw to Tarhuna-Homs position; Panzer Army HQ to south-southwest of Tarhuna, Jan 17; situation report for Jan 16, for Libya-Tripolitania, Allied divisions identified, east and south east of Tebessa, Abwehr report of convoys bringing troops and equipment from UK to North Africa; GAF reports planned withdrawal of Panzer Army, line of Allied spearheads Gheddahia-Faschia, Jan 17; Panzer Army report for Jan 16, Allied forces attacking along whole front, 90th Light Division inflicted heavy losses on Allies in beating off attack, 56 km west of Beurat; 5th Panzer Army situation report for Jan 16, lively artillery and air activity.
