North Africa: Kesselring directive to GAF for support of Panzer Army which cannot otherwise hold planned position: Italian ships Monginevro and Sestriere loaded with supplies for Bizerta; sea transport urgently requested by Panzer Army for evacuation of Benghazi; GAF aviation fuel stock in Arco area only enough for one day's operation, Nov 16; GOC Panzer Army ordered all Siebel ferries and landing craft in Ras El Ali to Benghazi, Panzer Army intention to defer passing of rearguard through Benghazi until Nov 19; Allied advance apparently hindered by rain and mines, fuel shortages rendering German troops almost incapable of movement, ammunition replenishment urgently needed.
