Southern Russian Front: operational orders for Aug 19: GAF to carry out recces in Caucasus-Caspian area, aim to establish whether Soviets bringing reinforcements to Tiflis through Iran; 4th Air Fleet instruction relating to unloading of supply trains, Aug 18; mopping up elbow of Don almost complete, bridgehead over Don successfully carried out; Report for Aug 16: Army Group A elements thrust forward south and south west of Krasnodar, 20 km beyond Kuban River.
Western Europe: reports of Allied landing on French coast in Dieppe area, Aug 19.
Japanese ambassador, Hanoi, reports Chinese air raid on Haiphong Aug 10.
