Description

Siterep east of Kiev, Sept 14: Soviet counter attack beaten off with severe losses; 24th Panzer Corps, SS Reich Division, 4th Panzer Division, 3rd Panzer Division, 10th Motorised Division all advancing.

1st Panzer Group advancing north to join with 2nd Panzer Group near Lokhvitsa; 17th Army advancing to north, 6th Army fighting across its whole front against fierce opposition, 4th Air Corps to support advance to south east of 11th Army, and 5th Air Corps attacking encircled enemy, Sept 14.

Soviets retreat north and northeast still fighting but losing many prisoners in Mirogorod, Sept 14.

Odessa raided with bombs and mines by aircraft of 4th Air Corps.

Ten Italian JU87 aircraft gone astray during joint operation against Habata.

Naval Headlines: U-boat contacts with convoy on Sept 12, U-boats operating off Brazilian coast, fast Italian convoy, including Vulcania, Neptunia and Oceania plus 5 destroyers expected to sail from Taranto to Tripoli, Sept 16, mv Pisani, Veniero and Rialto expected to arrive Naples from Tripoli on Sept 15; SS Capo d'Urso and Petrarca sailed from Brindisi, Sept 14, British Force returned to Gibraltar but without Ark Royal. 'Untrustworthy elements' to be moved from North Africa to Italy in home bound convoys.
