Petition to [Elizabeth I] from William Houghe, gentleman, Thomas Yate, and William Turnor, tenants by several indentures of various lands and tenements, of the manor of Shrivenham Salop, Berkshire, John Benger, tenant by copy of court roll of the manor of Shrivenham Salop, Roger Churche, Richard Grenewaye the elder, Thomas Stone, Richard Hawkyns, Richard Rawlynge, Richard Churche, Nicholas Cullye, James Cole, Thomas Whayne, Agnes Carter, widow, John Churche, Henry Alder and Henry Stone, tenants by copy of court roll of the manor of Stanford [Berkshire] the same Henry Stone and Henry Alder with John Engerfelde, tenants at will of land and tenements of the manor of Stanford, and William Hawkyns, a free tenant of the manor of Stanford, regarding the seizure of the manors of Shrivenham Salop and Stanford from Sir Francis Englefeld and the grant of them by letters patent dated Westminster 11 January 1566 to Nicholas Seynt John and George Fetyplace, esquires, which they granted to John Nowers and William Blagrave, who issued a bill of complaint against Thomas Stafford and John Yate for wrongfully taking the issues and profits of the two manors, whereby now the tenants do not know to whom they should lawfully pay their rents.
