Description

Certificate under the seal of Thomas Aldworthe, mayor Bristol, and the aldermen of Bristol, to prove the death at sea of Edmund Jones of Bristol, sailor, son of John Jones, some time sheriff of Bristol, whose body was sent overboard, by witness of Richard Whyte of Walton, Somerset, mariner, and William Pytt of Bristol, gunner. Also witness to the will that Edmund Jones wrote at sea, bequeathing certain goods to his sister Elizabeth Hollowaye, wife of John Hollowaye of Bristol. Seal of the mayor of Bristol. 24 March 1593 Certificate that John Jones, clerk, is the second son of John Jones, formerly sheriff of Bristol, deceased, and Joan, second wife of John Jones, and was christened in the parish church of St Nicholas, Bristol. Witnesses (and seals of): John Browne, attorney, Francis Knight, John Webbe, Edward Long, William Vawer and George Snowe. 10 April 1593. Certificate that Roger Jones, clerk, late parson of the parish church of Weyhill, Hampshire, was parson there for four years before his death, which occurred at the house of John Bonamy (Boname), clerk, in the parish of Fyfield, Hampshire, in January 1593, and that he died without issue. His body was buried in the chancel of the parish church of Weyhill on 2 February 1593. He was the eldest son of John Jones, formerly sheriff of Bristol, deceased. Witnesses (and seals of): George Blunte, parson of Weyhill, Robert Marshal, curate of Weyhill, John Warner, John Bonamy, clerk, William Bashe, Roger Aclon and William Kinge. 13 April 1593 Note of the evidences of Roger Jones of Bristol in a box in the Court of Requests. 10 June 1581
