Description

Copy or draft of letters patent following an examination of a chest of jewels at Hampton Court, which had been deposited in a chest during the reign of Elizabeth I at Whitehall, some of which were given to the queen, some kept to give to ambassadors, and some sold, while the remainder were taken by Pigeon, a royal servant, to the Jewel House [Westminster]. The remainder of the jewels [details specified] is discharged to Charles [Howard], earl of Nottingham, admiral of England.
