Signet letter from Elizabeth I to Sir John Popham, chief justice of England, Edmund Anderson, chief justice of the court of common pleas, William Peryam, knight, chief baron of the exchequer, and all other justices, John Smythe, esquire, sheriff of Kent, and all other sheriffs of Kent, and Robert Heath, gaoler of Maidstone gaol, regarding [the pardon and release of] Alexander Newby, late of Dartford, Kent, prisoner in Maidstone gaol for the murder of Thomas Dunce, late of Dartford, Kent. Dated Greenwich under the signet seal. Recorded in the signet book by Windeham. Bill made by signification by Sir John Stanhope.
