Description

Copy of an inquisition taken at Berkhamsted, 27 or 28 October 1300 (Friday, the eve of Simon and Jude, 28 Edw. I), concerning knights' fees held of Edmund, earl of Cornwall, and detailing the military tenures of the manors of Norcott [in Northchurch], Wigginton, Betlow, Little Gaddesden [all Hertfordshire, ], Weedon, Amersham, Swanbourne [all Buckinghamshire], of fees in Althorp [Northamptonshire], and messuages etc. in Woughton [Buckinghamshire], and serjeanty tenures in Gubblecote [Hertfordshire]. Postcript: Examined by H. Elsynge 20 July 1608. Agrees with the record: Robert Bowyere. Headed: From the bundle of escheats, 28 Edward I.

The original inquisition has been missing since 1912 and the only other record of its contents is the 1806 Calendarium Inquisitionum
