Indenture of bargain and sale, for £10, by John Machell, son of Leonard Machell, of Brading in the Isle of Wight, yeoman, to Steven Rodes of Newport in the same, yeoman, and his heirs, executors, and assigns, for the term of John's life, of John's estate, after the death of Joan, late wife of the above Leonard, and now Joan Rodes, in a lease of a messuage with appurtenances, pasture and land (details given) in Brading. The lease, dated 5 March 1581, was made by Edward Richardes of Yaverland, gentleman, to the above Joan, and the above John, for the term of their lives.
Witnesses: James Scoper, Christopher Boswell.
