Description

A letter under the Privy Seal recording how Richard Morgan, gentleman, has advanced £5 to the crown upon imprest for 'great and urgent considerations touching the wealth and surety of the realm'. The letter carries the king's promise to repay it to Morgan, his heirs, executors, or assigns within two years. The loan was received by Thomas Elyott, who signed the document.
