Description

Indenture between Richard Morgan of Chilworth, Surrey, esquire, on one part, and William Morgan, gentleman, his son and heir apparent, on the other part. Richard has demised, granted and let to farm his manor of Chilworth and his members and appurtenances in Surrey, and all his other possessions in the parish of St Martha on the Hill, Shere, Abingworth, Albury, Shalford, Wonersh, Bramley, Dunsfold, Cranleigh, Send, Guildford, Stoke by Guildford, Merrow, West Clandon and East Clandon, for £43 13s 4d payable over two years from Michaelmas last past, and after the two years have passed and during the remainder of the lease, the sum of £48 13s 4d. William also agrees to provide meat and drink for his father within the manor of Chilworth during the term of the lease, in the manner to which he is accustomed. And he is to honour similar provision for, and to supply wood to, Katherine Hoddes, wife of John Hoddes, his sister, and to Thomas Wyntershill until some other lodging or provision can be provided to him. Witnesses: Richard Lewknor, esquire, Robert Elliot, gentleman, John Sparge, William Flower, Nicholas Westall, Thomas Waterer, William Burden, William Saunders, and Thomas Churche. Signature of William Morgan [Morgayne] and impression of his signet seal.
