(i) Indenture between (a) Sir William Cecill knight, master of the court of wards and liveries, and Robert Keylwey, esquire, surveyor of the same liveries, and (b) John Harte, gentleman, son and heir of John Harte, gentleman, witnessing that (1) the queen is agreed to grant an ouster-le-main to John for lands and tenements held of Henry VIII by knight service, and to apprise her of the true value thereof John has delivered this day to William and Robert a survey of the same, attached hereto; (2) that John grants that an auditor may be appointed by the court of wards to survey the lands, and that he will answer for any undervaluation and concealment; and (3) that the queen shall have the issues of any lands so omitted or undervalued until Edward agrees payment therefore in the court of wards.
Signed by Cecil and Keylwey, with two seals attached. (ii) [attached on sealing tongues]. Valor or extent of the messuages, lands, etc., of John Harte, who died on 5 January 1541, and which descended to John Hart who came of age on 4 October 1545 and sought an ouster-le-main on 29 April 1561; namely - messuages, lands, rents, etc., in Addislade in Dean Prior, 'Garnacombe' in Modbury, Lupridge, 'Okerkis Heathfeld' in Loddiswell, Coarsewell (Garsewill, ?Croweswell) in Ugborough, Itton, Modbury, Marridge in Ugborough, Zeal in South Brent, and Hungerscombein Ugborough [all in Devon].
