Indented agreement between Gabriel Pulteney of Misterton, Leicestershire, esquire, and Thomas Spencer of Everdon, Northamptonshire, esquire, William Spencer, gentleman, his son and heir, and John Temple of Stowe, Buckinghamshire, gentleman, concerning Pulteney's marriage to Dorothy Cope, widow of George Cope, esquire, and daughter of Thomas Spencer. Pulteney agrees to grant them the reversions of his close of 'Highfield' in Misterton, leased to Richard Pratt of Lutterworth, Leicestershire, mercer, on 12 June 1571 for five years at a yearly rent of £96, and his close called 'Middlefield' in the manor of Poultney, Leicestershire, leased by Pulteney and his late brother Michael on 20 February 1567 to Sir John Spencer of Althorp (Oldthroppe), Northamptonshire, knight, at an annual rent of £21. They are to hold them for the term of Dorothy's life, to her use, with reversion to Pulteney and his heirs. Pulteney agrees to bequeath £200 to Dorothy if he dies before her.
