Assignment by William prior of the church of St Michael near St Albans, Hertfordshire, to Henry Marshe of Hendon, Middlesex, yeoman, of the lease of the mansion house called Colney Chapel, or Broad Colney, with a parcel of pasture called Someridge, in Shenley, Hertfordshire. Original lease made by Anthony Bacon of Gorhambury, Hertfordshire, esq, to John Bynge of Colney, deceased, for 70 years at the yearly rent of £11 6s 8p, for the term of his life and 20 marks after his death, by indenture dated 1 October 1592. Subsequently, Margaret, the widow of John Bynge, assigned the lease to John Eames of Little Gaddesden, Hertfordshire, by indentures dated 16 March 1599. Lastly, the lease was assigned to the said William in date 28 December 1602. Witnesses: Erasmus Cooke, Thomas Ewer, Alexander Brisco and William Ewer.
