Letters patent, being an exemplification of several deeds: a grant, dated 31 October 1569, by Edward, earl of Derby, knight of the garter, of an annuity of 20s to Hugh Hulme, coming from his lands in Chorley, Lancashire, to revoke the uses he appointed for his manors in Knowsley, Roby, Childwall, Osmotherley (Osmunderley), Sowerby (Sawrebye), Treales (Treyles), Ulnes Walton (Olneswalton) and Kellamergh (Kellermershe), Lancashire; his manors of Cobham, Uxbridge (Woxburge) and Hillingdon, Middlesex; his manors in Ellesmere, Dovaston, Kynaston (Kynnaston), Knockin Villa (Knokyn Villa) and Knockin Patria (Knokyn Patria), Hampton Wood (Hampton), Colemere (Culmere), Middle (Middell), Ness Strange (Nestrange), Nesscliffe (Nesseclyff) and 'Axsaye', Shropshire; his manors in Maelor Saesneg (Mallarse Sarsenecke), Flintshire; his manors in Lewes, Meeching, Clayton, Allington, Middleton, Brighton (Brighthelmeston), Cuckfield (Cookefeld), Seaford (Seeford), Highley, Houndean (Houndeyne), Iford (Ifforde) and Keymer (Kymeare), Sussex; his manors in Reigate (Rygate), Horley (Holeghe), Dorking, Capel and Southwark, Surrey; and his manor in Bicester (Burcestor), Oxfordshire, (granted by him to George, earl of Shrewsbury, Thomas, earl of Sussex, Richard Bolde, Thomas Deringe, Henry Eccleston and Richard Barnarde, by indenture dated 5 October 1565); the memorandum of the acknowledgement of the said deed by the earl of Derby, dated 2 January 1570; another grant by Edward, earl of Derby, dated 31 October 1569, to Hugh Hulme of a yearly rent of 20s from his lands in Chorley, Lancashire, to revoke the uses he appointed for his manors of Weeton (Weton), Torrisholme, Oxcliffe, Eccleston near Prescot, Glest (Gleaste) and Whiston, and lands there and in Bolton le Sands (Bolton in Londesdale), Bare, Little Marton (Little Merton), 'Turnall', Staynall, Wray, Much Woolton (Woolton Magna), Little Woolton, 'Cockeshot Houses', Greenhalgh (Grenoll), Roseacre (Rosaker), Wharles, Freckleton (Frekilton), Elswick (Elleswicke), Scotforth, Wesham (Wessham), Newton, Kirkham (Kyrkehame), Great Sowerby (Great Sawreby) and Little Sowerby (Little Sawrebye), Lancashire; the manor of Middleton Stoney (Middleton), Oxfordshire, with lands there; lands in Old Marton (Olde Merton) and Whittington, Shropshire; his part of the castle and barony of Lewes, Sussex; and water mills called 'Denham Milnes' in Buckinghamshire (granted by him to George, earl of Shrewsbury, Thomas, earl of Sussex, Richard Bolde, Thomas Deringe, Henry Eccleston and Richard Barnarde, by indenture dated 5 October 1565); the memorandum of the acknowledgement of the said deed by the earl of Derby, dated 2 January 1570.
