Letters patent of Hugh Despenser [the elder] confirming a grant in free alms made to the abbess and nuns of Lacock by Katherine Lovel of her tenements in Westlecot (Wyckelescote), which she held of Hugh's ancestors by the service of half a knight, in return for a payment by the abbess and nuns of fifty marks cash down. Dated at La Vasterne. Witnesses: Sir Peter Malorre; Sir Walter de Pavely; Sir John de Holte [Holt]; Peter Bluet; Richard Styne; John Jukyn; Roger de Thornhulle; and others. Armorial seal attached on parchment tag.
