Letters patent of John Spede, son and heir of William Spede of Bewley (Beuelegh'), by which he quitclaims to Thomas Calfton and his heirs of a messuage called 'Spedestenement' in Bewley (details given), which William, his father, had granted to Thomas by indenture (dated at Lacock on 7 August 1387), and a half-acre of meadow lying in Northmede next to the meadow 'Kyngesplace' of Notton (details given), which ought to have reverted to William and his heirs after his death, for which tenement he was to render a red rose at the Nativity of St John the Baptist for the first 100 years and 100s. thereafter. Witnesses: Nicholas Samborne; Nicholas Crok; William [R]hupezet; Robert Reigner; Jordan Fronk; Thomas Draper (Drapere); William Paternoster; John Gore; William Gore; and many others. Given at Lacock.
