Indented bond of Lady Joan [de Montfort], abbess of Lacock, and the convent there to Sir John Bluet, lord of Lackham (Lacham), acknowledging a debt of 200 marks payable at the Incarnation of Our Lord [25 December] 1319, with the condition that if the two parts of the chapel of Our Lady adjacent to the abbey church, on which work has now begun, are completed in all works of masonry, carpentry and roofing, then the debt shall be assigned towards the works without any claim or effort to foreclose on his part. If they are not completed, an action to recover shall be reserved to Sir John and his successors. No witnesses named.
Dated at Lacock in the Chapter House.
