Letter by Gilbert [Berkeley] bishop of Bath and Wells, to the Archbishop of Canterbury concerning John Stowell, Justice of the Peace in Somerset, divorced, who wishes to take a new wife.

Dated at Bristol. Holographic signature of the Bishop of Bath and Wells. Letter by John Stowell to an unknown recipient concerning the possible candidacy of the latter as Member of Parliament [for Somerset].

Dated at Cothelstone. Holographic signature of John Stowell.

Endorsed: "To the most Reverend father in god my Lord Th[e]archebusshop of Canterburie: geve these The b. of Wells lettre". Missing seal. 2 folios.
