Indenture between Sir Charles Howard, one of the sons of Thomas Howard, Earl of Suffolk, and Matthew Brodley, stating the lease to Matthew Brodley for 15 years, of a tenement with appurtenances, stables, barns, orchards, gardens, cartilages, lands, meadows, pastures, water courses, easements and commodities, in Lewisham, Kent. Matthew Brodley paid for the lease £38 10s. and he has to pay a yearly rent to Charles Howard of £6 13s. 4d.
Witnesses: Robert Readshaw and Lewis Sollort.
Endorsed: memorandum that the indenture was shown in the suit between Matthew Brodley and Mary Howard in the Court of Wards and Liveries on 23 October 1623. Signed Hugh Awdeley. Holographic signature and seal of Charles Howard.
