Description

Quadripartite indenture between Sir Nicholas Bacon, lord keeper of the Great Seal of England, and Sir Thomas Gresham, of Osterley, Middlesex, relating the agreements for the marriage between Nathaniel, second son of Sir Nicholas Bacon and Anne, now wife of Nathaniel. Sir Nicholas Bacon shall make a good estate or assurance in fee simple to Thomas Gresham, Roger Manwood, serjeant at law, William Lovelace, serjeant at law, Thomas Bromley, esquire, solicitor-general and Anthony Strynger, gentleman, of the manor of Stanford, Norfolk, with appurtenances, the manor of Great Ashfield, Suffolk, with appurtenances, and lands and tenements with appurtenances in Stanford, Sturston, West Tofts, Little Buckenham, West Watton, Great Hockham, Langford, Eccles, Wilby, Snetterton, Buckenham, Quidenham, Breckles and Larling, in Norfolk, and in Great Ashfield, Badwell, Walsham, Hunston, Elmswell, Langham and Ixworth in Suffolk, with a flock of sheep, of the yearly value of £210. He shall surrender the manor of Stanford, with a flock of sheep of the value of £90 pounds, to Nathaniel and Anne within 3 years. Whilst Sir Thomas Gresham, in consideration of the said marriage, shall make a good estate or assurance in fee simple to Sir Nicholas Bacon, Roger Manwood, William Lovelace, Thomas Bromley and Anthony Strynger, of the manor of Langham and Morston, Norfolk, with appurtenances, of the advowson of the church of Morston, of the manor of Combs and the advowson of the church of Combs, Suffolk, with a flock of sheep, of the value of £208 pounds per year. Within 3 years he shall surrender to Nathaniel and Anne his manors of Combs and Langham, and they will have after his death the flock of sheep.
