Description

Indenture of bargain and sale between Thomas Cotton esq. of Ashill, Norfolk, and John Banges, yeoman of Hempstead, Essex, reciting the sale by Thomas Cotton to John Banges, for £80 cash down, of a close of land, meadow and pasture called Johns, containing around 5 acres with appurtenances. Boundaries are listed. John Bangs has to pay yearly 2 pence and perform suit of court, and if he defaults he will pay 4 pence.

Witnesses: John Reanday and William Claydon.

Endorsed: note explaining that if John Bangs fails twice in paying the rent he has to pay 12 pence. Holographic signature and seal of Thomas Cotton, attached.
