Description

Indenture between Sir Richard Smith of London on the one part and Sir Warham St Leger [Seintleger] late of Leeds castle, Kent, on the other part. Whereas by an indented lease of 2 May 1597 the archbishop of Canterbury granted to Henry Fynche the rectory, parsonage, and grange of Salmestone for the lives of Fynche, his wife Ursula, and of John and Nathaniel Fynche his sons in survivorship for £38 10s 1d per year. Fynche by an indenture enrolled in Chancery on 25 Oct 1611, sold the rectory to Sir Richard Smith; and Smith in turn, by this indenture has sold it to Sir Warham St Leger on the same terms as appear in the original indenture.
