Indenture between Henry, earl of Huntingdon, Lord Hastings and Hungerford, Botreaux, Molyns and Moyles, KG, President of the queen's Council of the North, on the one part, and Elizabeth Beaumont of Gracedew (Grace Dieu), Leicestershire, on the other. Whereas Sir Humphrey Foster, deceased, for money paid by John Beaumont, esquire, late husband to Elizabeth Beaumont, by his deed of 22 May 1539, granted to John and Elizabeth the site of the former monastery of Grace Dieu with all buildings, houses, granges, messuages, lands, meadows, pastures, woods, rents, reversions, etc, there appertaining in the parish of Belton, Leicestershire, and also of all messuages, lands, etc in Osgathorpe and Thringstone, Leicestershire appertaining to the monastery, to hold to John and Elizabeth and their heirs and by remainder forever. Sir Humphrey Foster having received the site by grant in fee simple under letters patent of Henry VIII dated 13 March 1539. The earl of Huntingdon by these premises confirms, ratifies and allows the said Elizabeth all the estate, right and interest in the site of the monastery of Grace Dieu and related lands in Merell, Belton, Osbathorpe and Thringstone aforesaid. To be held by Elizabeth and the heirs of John Beaumont to their sole use, and all tenants and occupiers to quietly and peaceably hold and occupy their tenancy under Elizabeth and the heirs of John Beaumont without disturbance by the earl or his servants. And Elizabeth to be kept harmless of any former bargains, sales, contracts, recognisances, bonds, rents, statutes, etc. By the said earl done or made And Elizabeth and the heirs of John Beaumont agree not to alienate any part of the site and estate so described in the premises.
Sealed and delivered on 10 May 1574 by Huntingdon to Francis Beaumont, son of Elizabeth, to her use.
