Description

Indenture between Rous Clopton of Westminster, Middlesex, on the one part and John Wood of London, gentleman, on the other part. Whereas by a deed dated 7 March 1636, Thomas Faldo leased for thirty years a tenement in St Margaret's parish, Westminster, in the tenure of Frances, now the wife of Edward Martin of Westminster, citizen and grocer of London to Rous Clopton, for the yearly rent of one pepper corn for the first seven years and £30 for the remainder of the lease; and whereas Thomas Jackson, doctor of divinity, president of Corpus Christi College Oxford and the scholars of the same by their indented deed of 30 July 1637, did grant to Thomas Wood and William Parker, gentlemen, various named messuages and lands in Lincolnshire; by this present indenture Rous Clopton transfers to Thomas Wood the two indentures of lease and assignment noted above, and all the lands and messuages they contain for the terms therein stated.
