Indented inquisition post mortem of William Hurste of Exeter, mercer, taken at Exeter Castle before Bernard Smith, escheator, on 7 October 1568. Hurst held the hundred of Black Torrington, the manors of Manworthy, Moyleslachbroke [Lashbrook?], Woodacott, Teignharvey, Moore, Perry, 'Hardeberdeshore', with messuages, lands etc in Crediton, Thornbury, Northlew, Poughill, Cheriton, 'Fychpayn', Clawton, Pyworthy, Bricknells, Holbeton, Ermington, Cornwood, Modbury, Ugborough, Harberton, Brent, Manaton, Kingsteignton, Newton Abbot, Thornton, Exminster, Nether Exe, Holsworthy, Kenton, Loworthy, South Wonford, East Teignmouth and West Teignmouth, Devon (details given). William Hurste died on 19 October 1567. William Hurste junior is his grandson and heir.
