Description

Salaried Staff Register [No 2, pages 3089-3568)] - Miscellaneous departments. Includes staff employed as engineers, draughtsmen, surveyors, clerks, accountants and foremen.

Gives details of employee name, position, date of birth, date of joining service and salary. Remarks on promotion to other departments and/or stations, resignation, retirement and death-in-service details. Occasionally, provides details of fathers of staff in the Company's service.

The documents in RAIL 410/1838-1843 and 1845-1850 comprise two separate Salaried Staff Registers for the periods pre-1897 (No 1) and post-1897 (No 2). These volumes are not arranged sequentially in this record series; their arrangement is as follows:

Register No 1 (split between RAIL 410/1842-1843, 1847 and 1850):

  • Pages 581-1087: RAIL 410/1842 (Goods Department).
