Description

Salaried staff register [No 2, pages 1613-2092] - Goods Department. Includes station masters and clerks.

Gives some or all of the following information: name, position, date of birth, date of entry into service, salary and remarks on promotion to other departments and/or stations, resignation, retirement and death-in-service details. Occasionally, provides details of fathers of staff emoloyed by the Company.

The documents in RAIL 410/1838-1843 and 1845-1850 comprise two separate Salaried Staff Registers for the periods pre-1897 (No 1) and post-1897 (No 2). These volumes are not arranged sequentially in this record series; their arrangement is as follows:

Register No 1 (split between RAIL 410/1842-1843, 1847 and 1850):

  • Pages 1-579: RAIL 410/1847 (Coaching Department).
  • Pages 581-1087: RAIL 410/1842 (Goods Department).
  • Pages 1089-1599: RAIL 410/1843 (Goods Department).
