Description

County: Cambridgeshire; and Kent.

Grant descriptions and dates: poll tax granted by Parliament c. 1377 Feb 16 x 19 and two fifteenths and tenths granted by Parliament 1512 Feb 4 x March 30.

Document description: Writs and receipt, file of 16 mems. Writs relating to the first of two fifteenths and tenths granted to Henry VIII in 1512. Concerns exemptions enjoyed by the abbeys of Syon, Middlesex, and Denney, Cambridgeshire, and numerous colleges of Cambridge University, as well as Merton College, Oxford. The final membrane is a stray receipt for Fairfield, Aloesbridge hundred, Kent, and relates to the poll tax granted to Edward III in 1377.
