Grant description and date: hearth tax granted by Parliament 1662 May 19.
Document description: Assessment (individuals) for the twenty third and twenty fourth collections, roll of 147 rots. Includes names of individuals. In reasonably good condition. Most of the rotulets are complete and legible, although damage to the foot of some rotulets has led to the loss of a few names. The final rotulet is also torn, and a section is lost.The smaller paper books for each of the constituent wapentakes, and from which the present roll was presumably constructed, all survive for this collections, and now form the pieces in E 179/216/481-84, E 179/261/30 and E 179/261/32.
