Description

County: Worcestershire.

Grant description and date(s): fifteenth and tenth granted by Parliament 1357 April 17 x May 5.

Document description: Valuation of forfeit property, roll of 1 m. It is clear from the heading and contents that the document relates to the valuation of escapes of prisoners and forfeited goods of felons and fugitives and that monies so raised were to be distributed among various vills by the collectors of the fifteenth and tenth. This links the document with the fifteenth and tenth granted to Edward III in 1357, in which monies from this source were to be distributed to needy townships to offset the amounts levied. Document published in ed J Amphlett, Lay Subsidy Rolls 1346 and 1358 for the county of Worcester (Worcestershire Historical Society, 1900), pp. 30-39.
