Above: Portrait of Sir Edward Seymour. Inscribed 'Earl of Hertford, A.D. 1537 Duke of Somerset, 1546 Lord Protector 1546 Obiit [died]. A.D. 1557'. Original painted by Hans Holbein [the Younger], 1532; this engraving by Worthington; published for Sir R C Hoare, Baronet, January 1821'. Below: Bird's-eye view of Old Somerset House from the River Thames, entitled 'the Southern Front of Somerset House with its extensive gardens etc'. Drawn by L Knyff, c1720; engraved by Sawyer Junior'. Published 'as the Act directs' by John Thomas Smith, 31 Castle Street East, Oxford Street, 1 April 1808.
