Description

This piece contains a wide variety of papers from the French ships Lys (Captain Lozier Bouvet), Sainte Barbe de Marteque, L'Aquillon, Argonaute and Prince de Conty.

In many cases it is not possible to identify which ship the papers belong to. They include:

  • Songs
  • Equipment inventories
  • Tables of Latitude and Longtitude
  • A book on shipbuilding
  • Navigation instructions from Pondicherry to Bengal
  • A journal from the frigate Aquillon
  • A collection of documents from the Lys relating to rites of passage for novice seamen crossing the equator

Note
One of several pieces containing material provisionally identified as probably taken from the Prince de Conti (Nicolas François Gaillard de la Motte). Pending further sorting and cataloguing.
