Destination(s): Bordeaux.

Type(s) of voyage: Caribbean merchant service.

Particulars: Correspondence and other documentation from Martinique and Guadeloupe to France, including:

  • Comte De Dausset to the Prince de Montbary, Secretary of State for War, 10 July 1779, enclosing sentences pronounced by the Council of War on Martinique against deserters of the Auxerrois Regiment between May and July 1778.
  • Extracts from the register of deliberations from the Chamber of Agriculture on Martinique, 11 May 1779, discussing the economic and logistical problems on the island caused by the war against the English.
  • A rough logbook of an unidentified trans-Atlantic voyage.
  • Enclosed items in letters including printed pamphlets relating to the capture of Grenada by French Forces and subsequent naval battle in July 1779, and a copy of the Gazette de la Martinique, vol XXIX, 22 July 1779.
  • Numerous letters enclosing bills of lading for cargo on board various ships travelling from the Caribbean to France 1778-1779.
