Particulars: Captain Pinatel. Correspondence from the Isle de France and Isle de Bourbon to France. A small number of letters are government correspondence, some of which are addressed to Henri Bertin, French Minister for Agriculture, concerning plants and seeds for the garden of Louis XVI.
One letter, undated (October 1777) sent via M. Panchaud, banker, of Paris, is from Brigadier General James Stuart of the East India Company, military commander of Madras, India, to his brother Andrew Stuart MP, explaining political difficulties in Madras, and requesting that his brother defend his reputation in England.
