Captured ship: La Renommée (commander François de Saint-Alouarn ).
Details: a French warship (30-gun frigate) bound from France to Saint-Domingue; taken in fight on 13/24 September 1747 in latitude 46° 30' by HMS Dover (Washington Shirley commanding), and brought into Plymouth.

1-322 mail in transit, including official French government correspondence, and personal and business letters and letter packets, from various parts of France to Saint Domingue for onward delivery; now sorted by name of the writer;
